Full Stack Engineer – Innovation Team (Remote, Ireland)

About the role

Join the Innovation Team at Matomo to build privacy‑first analytics features. You will own the full lifecycle of new ideas, from rapid prototyping to production‑ready integration within Matomo’s core platform, working remotely from anywhere in Ireland.

Key responsibilities

• Design, prototype and deliver new backend (PHP) and frontend (JavaScript) features that extend Matomo’s analytics capabilities.
• Work with additional technologies such as Python and Node.js when required.
• Explore, validate and implement AI‑powered insights and other innovative product concepts.
• Identify and develop innovation opportunities across analytics, visualisation, integrations and user experience.
• Own ideas end‑to‑end, balancing speed with quality while avoiding over‑engineering.
• Write automated tests, review code and produce clear technical documentation.
• Maintain security best practices and stay current with emerging technologies.
• Collaborate daily with the CTO, co‑founders and senior engineers via Slack, Jira and Confluence.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of professional backend development experience in PHP.
• Solid front‑end experience with JavaScript.
• Familiarity with Python and/or Node.js is a plus.
• Proven ability to work autonomously in a small, remote‑first team.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and clear communication in an English‑speaking environment.
