Functional Specialist I – Driving Instructor/Assessor

About the role

The National Ambulance Service (NAS) is seeking qualified Driving Instructors/Assessors to join its team of Functional Specialists. You will be responsible for delivering driver training courses across four NAS College sites in Ireland, ensuring ambulance personnel are competent and safe on the road.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver driver training programmes at any of the NAS College locations (Tullamore, Ballinasloe, Tallaght, Cork) according to operational demand.
• Assess and certify ambulance drivers following national standards.
• Attend regular meetings with the HSE panel and NAS leadership.
• Provide flexibility in work location while maintaining a minimum level of availability at the assigned college base.

Required profile

• Qualified driving instructor/assessor with a valid licence.
• Willingness to travel and work across multiple college sites.
• Ability to meet operational demand and attend scheduled meetings.
