Generator Service Engineer – Power Generation Solutions

About the role

Our client is a well‑established provider of power generation solutions across Ireland and the UK. They are expanding their service team for the Leinster and Munster regions and need an experienced Generator Service Engineer to install, service, maintain and repair a wide variety of generator systems.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive servicing, oil & filter changes, and fuel/coolant sampling on generators from 9 kVA to 16 MW.
• Perform load‑bank testing, diagnose complex mechanical and electrical faults, and repair components such as fuel systems, cooling systems, starter motors and belts.
• Work with a broad range of engine and generator manufacturers including Cummins, Perkins, Caterpillar, John Deere, Volvo, Scania, Iveco, Dorman and Yanmar.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot control systems (DSE, ComAp, DEIF) and automatic mains‑failure (AMF) change‑over equipment.
• Complete detailed service reports and maintain accurate records of work performed.

Required profile

• Previous experience in generator service or power‑generation industry with strong mechanical and electrical fault‑finding abilities.
• Proven ability to manage own workload, prioritize jobs and work independently as well as within a wider engineering team.
• Professional attitude when dealing directly with customers and a willingness to undertake further technical training.

Required skills

• Experience with generator sets ranging from 9 kVA to 16 MW.
• Familiarity with engine manufacturers: Cummins, Perkins, Caterpillar, John Deere, Volvo, Scania, Iveco, Dorman, Yanmar.
• Knowledge of control and automation systems: DSE, ComAp, DEIF, AMF change‑over equipment.
• Load‑bank testing, oil/fuel/coolant sampling, and mechanical/electrical repair techniques.
