About the role

This two‑year programme offers qualified doctors the chance to work in rural general practice settings across Ireland while completing a structured educational pathway toward specialist registration in General Practice.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive primary‑care services to patients of all ages in established GP practices.
• Manage acute and chronic medical conditions independently.
• Participate in self‑directed learning and professional development activities.
• Prepare for and sit the CCT and CKT examinations.
• Collaborate with the Irish College of General Practitioners (ICGP) to meet educational milestones.

Required profile

• Minimum of 36 months experience in General Practice or Family Medicine, including independent patient management.
• Eligibility for General Registration with the Irish Medical Council.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to adapt to new clinical environments and healthcare systems.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development.

Required skills
