Graduate Health, Safety & Environmental Officer

About the role

MSL Engineering Ltd is looking for a motivated graduate to join its Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) team in Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork. This position offers a structured development pathway for individuals eager to build a long‑term career in HSE within a fast‑paced mechanical engineering and construction environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in implementing and maintaining MSL's HSE management systems.
• Support site teams to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, safe work procedures, and company policies.
• Prepare and review risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), and conduct inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
• Promote a positive safety culture across projects and office locations.
• Support environmental management initiatives and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Liaise with project managers, supervisors, and external stakeholders as required.
• Maintain accurate HSE documentation and records.

Required profile

• Degree in Environmental Science or a Diploma/Degree in Safety, Health & Welfare at Work (or equivalent).
• Strong interest in developing a career in HSE.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Motivated, proactive, eager to learn and work well within a team.
• Basic knowledge of Irish health, safety and environmental legislation.
• Young, enthusiastic, detail‑oriented and professional attitude.

Required skills

• ISO 45001 – Occupational Health & Safety Management System.
• ISO 14001 – Environmental Management System.
• Risk assessment and method statement (RAMS) preparation.
• HSE audit execution.
• Incident investigation techniques.
• Familiarity with Irish H&S and environmental legislation.
