Head of Cyber Security

About the role

The Head of Cyber Security leads BoyleSports’ overall security posture, defining strategy, policy and risk appetite while actively defending the organisation. This senior, hands‑on leader runs the Security Operations Centre (SOC), commands major incidents and works closely with architecture, engineering and infrastructure teams to embed security by design.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain the cyber security strategy, risk appetite, security policy and control framework across cloud, retail, corporate and product environments.
• Provide dotted‑line technical authority over security architecture and engineering, approving patterns and mandating controls.
• Own the in‑house SOC, manage detection engineering, lead the threat‑hunt programme and personally handle P1 incidents.
• Direct the Palo Alto Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) and oversee the detection backlog.
• Report cyber posture, material risks and incident outcomes to the CPTO, Executive Committee and Board.
• Maintain relationships with regulators, auditors and the Board on cyber‑related obligations in Ireland, Northern Ireland and Great Britain.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in cyber defence, preferably as a SOC manager or equivalent.
• Deep hands‑on technical expertise in detection engineering, incident response and threat hunting.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and act as the senior security contact for regulators and auditors.
• Strong understanding of security standards, governance and compliance requirements in the gambling sector.
