Head of Enterprise (Local Enterprise Office)

About the role

The Head of Enterprise leads the Local Enterprise Office within Roscommon County Council, delivering a coordinated system of state support to micro and small businesses and acting as the primary contact for enterprises and investors in the county.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high‑performing team that provides first‑stop‑shop services to start‑up, growing and established micro‑enterprises.
• Design and implement a strategic plan to promote entrepreneurship, job creation and investment in Roscommon.
• Coordinate and promote state‑funded programmes, financial support, mentoring, advice and business information.
• Build and maintain partnerships with public, private and industry stakeholders to attract and expand enterprises.
• Champion initiatives that increase exports, productivity, digital adoption, low‑carbon transition and innovation.
• Monitor performance metrics, prepare reports for the Council and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

Required profile

• Senior leadership experience in enterprise development, business support or economic development.
• Proven track record of delivering services to micro‑ and small‑business sectors.
• Strong understanding of state support schemes, funding mechanisms and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Ability to drive regional growth and promote the county as an investment destination.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
