Head of Quality

About the role

This senior leadership position reports to the Operations Director and sits on the senior leadership team of a leading food manufacturing business. You will shape and deliver the company’s quality strategy while leading a high‑performing technical team in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a long‑term Quality Strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Lead, coach and grow the Quality function to create an engaged, customer‑focused team.
• Ensure compliance with all food safety, legal, regulatory and customer standards.
• Champion a culture of quality and continuous improvement across the site.
• Lead customer, retailer and third‑party audits, keeping the site audit‑ready at all times.
• Drive root‑cause analysis, corrective actions and preventative improvements.
• Build strong relationships with customers, regulators and internal stakeholders.
• Monitor quality performance through KPIs and identify opportunities for efficiency and product quality gains.
• Collaborate with Production, Operations and Commercial teams to embed quality into decision‑making.

Required profile

• Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum five years in a senior Quality or Technical leadership role within food manufacturing or FMCG.
• Strong knowledge of food safety legislation, quality management systems and retailer standards.
• Proven experience leading customer and third‑party audits.
• Demonstrated success in leading teams, developing people and driving continuous improvement.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and commercial awareness.
