Health Promotion & Improvement Manager (Grade VIII)

About the role

The Health Promotion & Improvement Manager will lead the delivery of public health programmes across the IHA 1&2 Mid West region. Reporting to senior health service leadership, the role oversees implementation of national policies, supports community health networks and drives staff wellbeing initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and manage health promotion programmes, including Stop Smoking, Cancer Awareness, and Making Every Contact Count.
• Provide operational leadership for the delivery of Sláintecare Healthy Communities and Healthy Ireland implementation plans.
• Oversee staff health and wellbeing programmes and manage related budgets.
• Develop and deliver training models for regional teams and external partners.
• Engage with stakeholders, including ICPoP and chronic disease leads, to scale national initiatives.
• Monitor performance, ensure compliance with national standards, and report on programme outcomes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in health promotion, public health programme delivery or similar senior managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of Irish health policies such as Sláintecare and Healthy Ireland.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage financial resources.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement, community partnership development and training delivery.
