Hospital Household Assistant

About the role

The Hospital Household Assistant ensures that all assigned patient, staff and public areas are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and infection control. Working as part of the environmental services team, you will support the smooth operation of the facility by providing thorough cleaning, safe handling of bio‑hazardous material and excellent personal presentation.

Key responsibilities

• Clean, supply and equip all designated hospital zones, following infection control policies and health‑and‑safety guidelines.
• Remove blood, bodily fluids and other bio‑hazardous waste safely and dispose of it according to protocol.
• Maintain personal grooming standards and wear the provided uniform at all times.
• Report maintenance faults, incidents or breakages promptly to the supervisor on duty.
• Handle keys, lost property and equipment responsibly and return them as required.
• Contribute to departmental financial targets by using cleaning agents efficiently.

Required profile

• Commitment to punctuality, shift schedules and break times.
• Willingness to follow all hospital policies, procedures and mandatory training.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, patients and visitors.
• Awareness of health and safety regulations, including smoking policies.

Required skills

• Knowledge of infection‑control cleaning methods and safe handling of bio‑hazardous materials.
• Proficiency in operating standard hospital cleaning equipment.
