Human Resources Manager – Construction (Permanent)

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Human Resources Manager to lead the HR function for a dynamic construction business. Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will build HR processes from the ground up, support both office and site teams, and ensure compliance with employment law and industry regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and align the HR function with business goals, driving employee engagement and retention.
• Develop, maintain and update HR policies, ensuring compliance with health & safety, GDPR and construction‑specific regulations.
• Manage all HR administration – contracts, onboarding, promotions, leavers and employee documentation for permanent and temporary staff.
• Partner with payroll to guarantee accurate pay, overtime, site allowances and compliance with industry agreements.
• Lead end‑to‑end recruitment for trades, site operatives and office roles, including campaign design and onboarding.
• Oversee mandatory training programmes covering health & safety, legislative requirements and skills development.
• Advise and coach managers on employee relations, performance management and site‑specific challenges.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an HR professional, preferably within construction or a similarly regulated sector.
• Ability to work independently, set up HR processes and influence senior stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge of UK/Ireland employment law, health & safety legislation and GDPR.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to building a positive workplace culture.
