Instructor / Supervisor – Support Young Adults with Disabilities

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Instructor / Supervisor to join Sunbeam House Services and help young adults aged 18‑35 with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities transition to independent adult life. You will work within the Student Learning Service (SLC) to deliver life‑skill training, community‑based activities and personalised support in line with each client’s goals.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate a person‑centred approach that respects each client’s wishes, dignity and privacy.
• Promote and protect client rights while encouraging participation in community activities.
• Support overall wellbeing, including health, personal care and daily living tasks.
• Teach practical life skills such as cooking, budgeting, cleaning and confidence‑building.
• Identify and develop new interests and meaningful roles for clients within the community.
• Maintain accurate records and reports in line with New Directions regulations.

Required profile

• QQI Level 7 in Social Care (or foreign equivalent validated by QQI).
• Registered with the Social Care Workers Registration Board (CORU) or eligible for registration.
• Minimum one year post‑qualification experience working with adults with intellectual disabilities (desirable).
• Full driving licence and access to a car.
• Passion for empowering people with disabilities and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of New Directions regulations and relevant legislation.

Required skills

• Proficient IT skills for documentation and reporting.
• Strong report‑writing ability.
