Junior Legal Applications Engineer

About the role

A&L Goodbody LLP is looking for a Junior Legal Applications Engineer to join a team delivering legal solutions using legal technology and AI. The role offers training and mentorship in automation, workflow design, data analysis and low-code/no-code development, and sits within the Applications Development team reporting to the Applications Development Manager. It is an entry-level, permanent position for recent graduates in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or a related analytical field.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the administration, configuration and routine maintenance of legal and AI technology applications, log issues and carry out scheduled checks and updates under supervision
• Maintain records of configuration changes and support activity, escalate issues to senior colleagues or suppliers, and help create usage and performance reports and dashboards
• Contribute to the design and development of internal applications, support testing and prototype development, and stay informed about emerging legal technology trends
• Help develop legal workflows across practice areas, map processes and identify opportunities for automation
• Contribute to project planning, requirements gathering, go-live coordination and documentation such as user guides and training materials

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering, Physics, Economics or a related analytical field
• Academic, internship or project experience showing interest in solution development, automation or data technologies
• Interest in how law firms operate and how technology supports legal service delivery
• Right to work in Ireland on a full-time permanent basis without employer sponsorship

Required skills

• Very familiar with Microsoft Office (Excel) and ideally Power Platform and Power BI
• Knowledge of at least one programming or scripting language (e.g. Python, JavaScript)
• Ability to quickly learn and apply AI tools and legal technology platforms
• Strong communication, presentation and collaboration skills, and good organisation
