Lab Analyst – 6 month contract

About the role
Alcon is seeking a Lab Analyst for a six‑month contract in Cork, Ireland. You will perform routine chemical and microbiological testing to ensure continuous manufacturing and product release, while supporting validation projects and quality compliance.
Key responsibilities
- Perform routine chemical and microbiological analyses across shifts.
- Collect, prepare, and process samples for testing.
- Troubleshoot test processes and conduct investigations to resolve technical issues.
- Lead or assist with in‑house laboratory validation studies and projects.
- Support training of laboratory personnel, internal audits, and QC auditors.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Follow laboratory safety procedures, clean work areas, and perform basic equipment maintenance.
- Provide cross‑training to support production needs and perform any additional duties assigned by the Laboratory Manager.
Required profile
- Strong chemical and microbiology knowledge with troubleshooting and validation experience.
- At least two years of experience in a regulated medical‑device or pharmaceutical laboratory.
- Bachelor’s degree in a science‑related discipline.
- Attention to detail, adaptability, and good communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
