Lab IT Engineer

About the role

The Lab IT Engineer will join Cognizant’s Life Sciences team in Dublin, working on‑site with a pharmaceutical client to validate and support PC‑controlled analytical laboratory systems. The role combines IT infrastructure management with regulatory‑focused laboratory validation.

Key responsibilities

• Execute and monitor data backups, perform disaster‑recovery testing and resolve related issues.
• Request, deploy and verify security patches and updates from the global team.
• Build, configure and connect PCs to the corporate network, installing security tools as required.
• Create user accounts, reset passwords and administer vendor accounts.
• Conduct security reviews for computerized instruments and address any gaps.
• Run validation test scripts, analyse results and confirm acceptability against predefined criteria.
• Collaborate with Lab Validation Engineers, System Administrators and Quality Assurance to ensure compliance with Lilly Quality Standards.
• Follow Environmental, Health and Safety procedures and support incident investigations.

Required profile

• Degree in IT, Automation or a related engineering discipline.
• At least 4 years of experience supporting laboratory IT applications, including requirements gathering, design documentation and system testing.
• Minimum 2 years working in a regulated (pharmaceutical) environment.
• Self‑motivated with the ability to understand business processes and maintain high integrity.
