Lead Data Engineer – Enterprise Credit Risk

About the role

Mastercard’s Enterprise Credit Risk (ECR) team is looking for a Lead Data Engineer to design and scale next‑generation data platforms that support credit decisioning, risk management, regulatory reporting and AI‑driven insights. You will work closely with product, risk analytics, data science and architecture teams to deliver trusted, high‑quality data products.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and evolve enterprise‑grade data platforms and pipelines for credit risk and analytics solutions.
• Architect scalable ETL/ELT frameworks using Databricks, Spark, Delta Lake and cloud‑native services.
• Implement data quality, lineage, governance and observability to ensure compliance and trust.
• Drive migration of legacy assets to cloud‑based lakehouse architectures.
• Mentor engineers, define coding standards and promote operational excellence.

Required profile

• Strong expertise in large‑scale data engineering and distributed processing systems.
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives across multiple teams and influence architecture without direct authority.
• Excellent communication skills for collaboration with product, risk, analytics and senior stakeholders.
