Learning and Development Manager

About the role

The Learning and Development Manager leads Alternative Heat’s L&D department, ensuring that training, qualifications and competency frameworks meet all statutory, regulatory and client requirements across manufacturing, engineering and site operations. The role partners with senior leaders to close competency gaps, support succession planning and drive career progression for employees.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain full organisational compliance with legislation, safety standards, ISO requirements and industry certifications for the construction and MEP sectors.
• Design, deliver and continuously improve structured learning programmes, skills development initiatives and career progression frameworks.
• Identify competency gaps with business unit leaders and implement targeted professional development plans.
• Oversee the training team (technical trainer and administrators) and coordinate training across off‑site fabrication, site installation, commissioning and support services.
• Ensure all personnel are audit‑ready, certified and development‑ready at all times.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in learning and development, preferably within manufacturing or construction environments.
• Strong knowledge of compliance, safety standards, ISO and industry certification processes.
• Ability to collaborate with senior managers and drive strategic talent initiatives.
• Experience managing competency frameworks and succession planning.
