Legal Counsel – Construction & Infrastructure

About the role

BAM UK & Ireland is seeking a qualified Legal Counsel to join its Legal Services team. Based in one of our Irish offices (Kildare, Cork or Galway), you will provide pragmatic, cost‑effective legal advice across a portfolio of large‑scale construction, civil and facilities management projects.

Key responsibilities

• Provide non‑contentious, transactional support to projects in the Infrastructure, Construction and Ireland segments.
• Act as a “critical friend” on tendering and project teams, advising on main contracts, sub‑contracts and supply‑chain risk.
• Draft, amend and maintain bespoke and standard‑form contracts and related precedent documentation.
• Review technical contract documents (specifications, procedures) for legal robustness.
• Manage claims, dispute resolution and negotiation strategies, including oversight of external counsel.
• Draft and review commercial agreements, and deliver legal training on key topics.
• Support advice on health, safety, environmental, sustainability, procurement, competition law and intellectual property matters.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor (approximately 4–6 years post‑qualification experience) or barrister with equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated experience in construction‑related legal work, including contract drafting and negotiation.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary project teams and external advisors.
