Legal Counsel – High‑Tech & Space Optics

About the role

MBRYONICS is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to become the internal legal hub for a fast‑growing company at the forefront of free‑space optical communications and satellite technologies. You will work closely with senior leadership, engineering, and commercial teams to ensure legal compliance across multiple jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide corporate governance, IP strategy, and international expansion advice to the leadership team.
• Own the end‑to‑end contract lifecycle for complex commercial agreements, high‑value NDAs, and export‑control matters.
• Design and manage compliance programs for Irish, EU, and US export controls (including ITAR/EAR).
• Lead legal aspects of commercial bids and government tenders, identifying and mitigating risks.
• Select and coordinate external counsel across Ireland, the US, and the EU.
• Oversee patent filing, trade‑secret protection, and IP enforcement for core photonic technologies.
• Develop frameworks for employment law, GDPR, and other regulatory requirements.
• Navigate emerging space‑law issues related to free‑space optics deployments.

Required profile

• Significant post‑qualification experience (PQE) in a high‑tech or aerospace environment.
• Direct experience with UK/US/EU export‑control licensing for dual‑use technologies.
• Hands‑on mindset with the ability to work autonomously in a scaling organization.
• Proven ability to translate complex legal requirements into practical business processes.
