About the role
As a Legal Counsel at ICON, you will support the legal and compliance function, working collaboratively to deliver high‑quality outcomes across global clinical programmes.
Key responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including master services agreements, vendor agreements, clinical trial agreements and confidentiality agreements.
- Provide legal guidance on contractual, regulatory, compliance, data‑privacy and operational issues affecting ICON’s global clinical research activities.
- Partner with business development, operations, finance and compliance teams to enable commercial opportunities while managing legal risk.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support business initiatives, identify risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Assist in developing and implementing legal policies, procedures and best practices to ensure consistent compliance with applicable laws.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve disputes, address legal issues and support strategic projects.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in law or equivalent qualification; qualified solicitor, attorney or legal professional in a relevant jurisdiction.
- Prior experience in a legal role focused on commercial contracts, preferably within pharmaceutical, biotech, CRO or life‑sciences environments.
- Strong understanding of contract law, regulatory requirements and industry standards for the pharma/biotech sector.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and problem‑solving abilities, with capacity to explain complex legal concepts to non‑legal stakeholders.
- Detail‑oriented, analytical, able to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously; willingness to travel up to 10%.
