Machine Operator

About the role

The Mechanical Operative is a key member of the Waterford Engineering Team, working 12‑hour shifts to support the plant’s business plans and objectives. You will help keep production running smoothly while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, repair and maintain end‑making and supporting systems.
• Perform quality checks at required frequencies.
• Assist with production problems to minimise downtime (MTBF).
• Support Lead Engineers, Toolmakers, Electricians and Fitters in resolving technical issues.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement activities such as CI Cards and Shingo.
• Carry out daily, weekly and monthly tooling, product and equipment checks.
• Train trainee operators to resolve equipment downtime.
• Assist engineering during mechanical or tooling breakdowns and maintenance.
• Maintain tool inventory and ensure a clean, safe work environment.

Required profile

• A keen interest and aptitude for mechanics.
• Excellent communication skills to explain processes clearly.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Full on‑site presence at the Waterford plant.
