Maintenance & Facilities Supervisor – Engineering & Facilities

About the role

Kepak is seeking an Engineering & Facilities Supervisor to lead the maintenance team at its Watergrasshill plant in County Cork. You will ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the abattoir and boning hall, while driving continuous improvement across all engineering activities.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise visiting contractors and enforce safe operating procedures.
• Develop and complete preventive‑maintenance (PPM) schedules using predictive and diagnostic techniques.
• Lead improvement initiatives with a hands‑on, forward‑thinking approach.
• Support the engineering department in meeting budget targets through efficient use of materials and spare parts.
• Perform emergency breakdown repairs on retail production equipment promptly.
• Assist with the installation of new plant equipment.
• Participate in daily production and engineering meetings.
• Issue, approve, and manage workload for the engineering team using a CMMS.

Required profile

• Engineering qualification – degree level or completed apprenticeship.
• Proven maintenance experience in food or FMCG manufacturing with strong people‑management skills.
• Strong knowledge of food‑safety, compliance, and audit standards.
• Experience managing facilities, utilities, and external contractors.
• Structured problem‑solving ability and clear communication skills.
• Desirable: knowledge of PUWER, Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, and CE marking of machinery.
