Maintenance Technician

About the role

Join a leading food manufacturing company in Westmeath as a Maintenance Technician. You will work within a dynamic maintenance team, handling both electrical and mechanical tasks to keep plant operations running smoothly on a rotating shift schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Routine checking and monitoring of plant and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Calibration and testing of equipment, alarms, and instrumentation according to CMMS and vendor guidelines.
• Execute planned mechanical and electrical maintenance and record activities in the CMMS.
• Respond promptly to equipment failures, perform repairs or replacements, and log actions.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, process, and electrical issues using best practices.
• Manage spares inventory to support reliable plant operation.
• Administer permit‑to‑work systems, including LOTO and hot‑work permits.
• Utilise remote monitoring tools such as BMS to assess plant condition.
• Suggest improvements for reliability and efficiency in collaboration with the team lead.
• Plan and coordinate shutdowns with management.
• Maintain compliance with health, safety, ethical and quality standards.
• Perform electrical maintenance tasks, including panel fault finding and VSD replacement.

Required profile

• Mechanical or Electrical qualification – minimum Level 6 certificate.
• Experience in a facility maintenance environment is advantageous.
• Ability to read electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic drawings.
• Background supporting high‑volume manufacturing operations.
