Manufacturing Automation Specialist – DeltaV Engineer

About the role

A Manufacturing Automation Specialist is needed to design, implement, support and continuously improve the Emerson DeltaV DCS at a state‑of‑the‑art single‑use biopharmaceutical facility in Dunboyne, Co. Meath. The role serves as the site’s DeltaV subject‑matter expert, collaborating with automation, MES, engineering, operations, quality and global technology teams to ensure reliable, compliant and inspection‑ready systems.

Key responsibilities

• Act as technical system owner for Emerson DeltaV DCS across upstream, downstream, solution preparation and utility areas.
• Develop, debug and optimise DeltaV code and control strategies to ensure stable software and hardware performance.
• Lead engineering assessments, configure automation changes and support validation runs for new product introductions.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis, deviation investigations and troubleshooting of electrical, instrumentation and control systems.
• Maintain regulatory compliance, audit readiness and manage change control, maintenance scheduling and SDLC documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology, Automation, Mechatronics, Chemical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum 5 years hands‑on experience with Emerson DeltaV DCS in a GMP‑regulated biotech or pharmaceutical environment.
• Proven experience in tech transfer, process design, commissioning and qualification.
• Strong knowledge of batch control standards (ISA S88/S95), GAMP 5, 21 CFR Part 11 and computer‑system validation.
