Job description

About the role

Designer Group, an international mechanical and electrical engineering contractor, is seeking a full-time, permanent Materials Controller in Dublin. The role supports the movement, storage, tracking and availability of materials across the facility, working closely with production, procurement, project teams and suppliers so that materials are received, checked, stored and issued efficiently.

Key responsibilities

  • Receive, check and record incoming materials, equipment and deliveries against purchase orders, delivery dockets and project requirements.
  • Maintain accurate stock records using internal systems and documentation.
  • Control the issue of materials to production teams in line with work schedules.
  • Monitor stock levels and highlight shortages, delays or discrepancies.
  • Support cycle counts, stock checks and inventory control activities.
  • Organise materials for safe, efficient and accessible storage and ensure they are clearly labelled, traceable and allocated to the correct project or work package.
  • Liaise with procurement, suppliers, project and production teams on material availability.
  • Identify damaged, incorrect or missing materials and escalate issues promptly.
  • Support material movement planning, good housekeeping, and compliance with health, safety, quality and environmental requirements.
  • Assist with continuous improvement across stores, logistics and material flow.

Required profile

  • Previous experience in a materials control, stores, warehouse, logistics or supply chain role.
  • Experience in construction, engineering, manufacturing, M&E or prefabrication is an advantage.
  • Strong attention to detail, organisation and ability to manage competing priorities in a busy, hands-on environment.
  • Good communication skills and comfort working with production, procurement and site teams.
  • Desirable: experience with M&E materials, pipework, electrical components, prefabricated assemblies, construction project delivery or off-site manufacturing, and familiarity with stock management, barcode, ERP or materials tracking systems.

Required skills

  • Basic IT skills and experience with stock, ERP, procurement or warehouse systems.
  • Understanding of health and safety requirements in stores, warehouses or manufacturing.
  • Forklift licence or manual handling certification is an advantage but not essential.

What we offer

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Opportunity to join a growing prefabrication and manufacturing operation.
  • Long-term career development within an international engineering business.
  • Exposure to major M&E projects across multiple sectors.
  • A supportive team environment with strong operational and project delivery expertise.
