Mechanical Design Engineer – R&D (Agricultural Tech)

About the role

Join JFC's Evolution R&D division as a Mechanical Design Engineer, developing high‑tech products for the agricultural sector. Based at our Tuam headquarters, you will work in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary team focused on innovation and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new products from concept through detailed mechanical design.
• Create 3D CAD models and detailed manufacturing drawings using CREO, SolidWorks or similar tools.
• Build prototypes and conduct laboratory and field testing.
• Prepare comprehensive test reports and documentation in line with ISO 9001 QMS.
• Collaborate with electronics and software teams on control‑system integration.
• Participate in technical design reviews and manage development schedules.
• Support risk analysis activities, including DFMEA and root‑cause investigations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of industrial design experience, preferably in a high‑volume manufacturing environment.
• Strong teamwork orientation and effective written and verbal communication.
• Full driving licence.
• Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (CREO, SolidWorks or equivalent).
• Experience in design for manufacture and DFMEA.
• Knowledge of risk‑management and root‑cause analysis techniques.
• Project management capabilities.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems.
