Media Relations Manager – Dublin

About the role

AIB is seeking a Media Relations Manager to shape the external narrative of Ireland’s largest bank during a period of growth and innovation. The role involves leading media engagement, supporting senior leaders, and contributing to the bank’s communications strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead proactive media relations activities that align with AIB’s strategy and enhance reputation.
• Act as a trusted adviser on media and reputational matters, including handling complex or sensitive issues.
• Manage and respond to media enquiries quickly, providing clear and approved statements.
• Develop high‑quality communications materials such as press releases, statements, Q&As, briefings and social content.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists across national, regional and digital channels.
• Identify and deliver positive storytelling opportunities linked to AIB’s impact on customers, communities and the economy.
• Support senior leaders and spokespeople with media engagements, including preparation, briefing and follow‑up.
• Contribute to crisis communications planning and execution.
• Monitor media and stakeholder sentiment to spot emerging risks and opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging.
• Manage relationships with PR agencies in Dublin, Belfast and London.
• Help develop AIB’s communications strategy and evolve the Media Relations function.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of experience in communications, preferably with a mix of media relations and corporate communications.
• Strong news judgement and excellent writing skills.
• Ability to manage issues calmly and act as a spokesperson for the organisation.
• Proven track record of creating cross‑platform communication materials in a fast‑paced environment.
