Medical SHO – Locum & Permanent Roles Across Ireland

About the role

Opalus Healthcare is recruiting Medical Senior House Officers (SHOs) for both locum and permanent positions in public and private hospitals throughout Ireland. The roles provide flexible contracts ranging from 6 to 12 months and can be full‑time or part‑time, allowing doctors to gain broad clinical experience across multiple specialties.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality patient care in medical and surgical wards.
• Conduct patient assessments, investigations and formulate management plans under supervision.
• Participate in on‑call rotas and multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to hospital policies.
• Support junior staff and contribute to teaching activities where applicable.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with full registration on the Irish Medical Council register.
• Valid work permit or right to work in Ireland.
• Willingness to work in various locations across the country and adapt to flexible shift patterns.
• Previous experience in the Irish healthcare system is desirable but not mandatory.
