Newly Qualified Accountant – Internal Audit

About the role

We are seeking a newly qualified accountant to lead and deliver the internal audit function for a diversified organisation with over 30 retail outlets in the North West of Ireland. Key responsibilities

• Develop and present an Annual Internal Audit Plan to the Audit Committee based on a comprehensive risk assessment.
• Plan and execute audit assignments to ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
• Conduct internal audits and ad‑hoc reviews of financial, operational and IT controls.
• Prepare detailed management reports with findings and practical recommendations.
• Monitor remediation actions and ensure timely resolution of control issues.
• Support management in implementing best practices and strengthening internal controls.
• Lead the group‑wide annual risk assessment process.
• Contribute to operational and systems‑related projects, with potential project‑lead responsibilities.
• Assist with company secretarial and compliance requirements as needed.

Required profile

• Fully qualified member of a recognised professional accountancy body.
• Relevant audit experience gained in an accounting firm or within the internal audit function of a large organisation.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage with senior stakeholders.
• Proven ability to assess business areas, identify audit needs and recommend value‑adding solutions.
• Confidence to challenge existing practices constructively.
• Comfortable presenting findings and recommendations to senior and middle management.
• Intellectual curiosity, proactive mindset and drive to add value.
• Full clean driver’s licence and access to own transport.
