Non-Consultant Hospital Doctor – Psychiatry Registrar (Fixed‑Term)

About the role

We are seeking a Non‑Consultant Hospital Doctor at Registrar level to join our adult inpatient and community psychiatry service within the Intellectual Disability Team at Cluain Mhuire Adult Mental Health Services. This full‑time, fixed‑term position runs until January 2027 with a possible extension and offers the chance to develop a career in psychiatry in a leading clinical and academic environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis and treatment for adult in‑patients and community patients.
• Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including nurses, psychologists, social workers and allied health professionals.
• Participate in the teaching programme for RCSI medical students and non‑consultant hospital doctors.
• Contribute to clinical audits and quality‑improvement projects.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and adhere to Irish Medical Council regulations.

Required profile

• Medical degree and full registration with the Irish Medical Council.
• Eligibility for a Registrar level position in psychiatry.
• Previous experience in psychiatry is preferred; experience in the Irish health‑care system is desirable.
• Eligibility to work in Ireland and meet English language requirements.

Required skills

• Clinical competence in adult psychiatry.
• Ability to conduct clinical audits.
