People Training Advisor – Drilling Operations

About the role

The People Training Advisor (Drilling) will lead the development and delivery of training programmes for the drilling workforce at Newmont's Lihir operation. You will ensure that operators have the knowledge, skills and confidence to work safely and efficiently in a remote mining environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deliver and continuously improve classroom and on‑the‑job training for drilling equipment, including PV231 and D65 drills.
• Conduct competency assessments, provide coaching and mentoring, and track progress in the Learning Management System (LMS).
• Identify capability gaps through field observations and collaborate with supervisors and superintendents to address them.
• Align all training content with company, industry and HSE standards.
• Maintain accurate training records and manage training resources such as PPE, equipment and materials.
• Promote proactive safety behaviours and a culture of continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering technical training in a mining or heavy‑equipment environment.
• Strong understanding of drilling operations, safety protocols and competency assessment methods.
• Ability to work closely with operational leaders and adapt training solutions to business needs.
• Excellent communication and coaching skills.
