People Training Advisor – Mining Operations

About the role

The People Training Advisor will design, deliver and assess training programs for heavy‑equipment operators at Newmont’s Lihir gold mine. You will work closely with operational leaders to close skill gaps, promote safety behaviours and support continuous workforce development.

Key responsibilities

• Develop training materials and curricula aligned with Newmont, industry and HSE standards for haul trucks, excavators and loaders.
• Deliver classroom theory and on‑the‑job training to operators across the mine.
• Conduct field observations, identify capability gaps and recommend improvements.
• Maintain accurate training records in the Learning Management System (LMS) and communicate plans to stakeholders.
• Promote safe and productive work practices and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Considerable experience in an open‑pit mining operation as an operator, supervisor or trainer.
• Proven ability to develop and deliver technical training programs.
• Strong analytical skills to assess capability gaps and adapt training.
• Familiarity with HSE standards and safety‑focused culture.
