Placement Year Quantity Surveyor – Sep 2027 Intake

About the role

Join Cunningham for a one‑year Placement Year as a Quantity Surveyor starting September 2027. You will work alongside experienced commercial managers, gaining hands‑on experience on projects across Ireland and potentially in Europe. This role offers a blend of office learning and on‑site exposure to develop your surveying skills.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Quantity Surveyor with contract quantity surveying duties.
• Support procurement of subcontractors and manage contract variations.
• Help measure works with senior Quantity Surveyors and process payments.
• Distribute notices to suppliers and subcontractors.
• Assist with project cost control, cost reporting and commercial documentation.
• Develop an understanding of commercial department processes and suggest improvements.

Required profile

• Currently studying a degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying.
• Sound commercial awareness and knowledge of monthly reporting and earned value analysis.
• Strong team player with the ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
• Legal right to work in the Republic of Ireland or the UK.
• Full driving licence and access to a vehicle are advantageous.
• Willingness to work outdoors on live construction sites throughout the year.
