Principal Cyber Security Specialist – Operations

About the role

The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) of Ireland is seeking a Principal Cyber Security Specialist for its Operations Directorate. This senior position will shape the nation’s incident response capability, overseeing digital forensics, malware analysis and threat intelligence activities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team delivering cyber security services to public and private sector organisations.
• Design, implement and continuously improve the national cyber incident response process.
• Oversee operational incident handling, digital forensics investigations and malware analysis across NCSC detection systems.
• Provide strategic guidance to senior leadership and contribute to governance and decision‑making.
• Coordinate support services for victims of cyber incidents affecting the State.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in cyber security incident response, digital forensics or malware analysis.
• Proven leadership ability in managing and growing technical teams.
• Strong understanding of national cyber security frameworks and critical infrastructure protection.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with government, industry and international partners.
