Principal Engineer / Technical Lead – .NET

About the role

We are an established enterprise software organisation looking for a hands‑on Principal Engineer / Technical Lead to drive the modernization of a complex financial platform. The role combines deep technical work with architectural guidance and team mentorship, based in Cork with a hybrid schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the transition of legacy systems to scalable, service‑based architectures.
• Write high‑quality .NET code, enforce testing, modular design and CI/CD best practices.
• Integrate and champion AI‑assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor or Cline to accelerate delivery.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, pair programming and resolve complex production issues.
• Implement incremental refactoring and explore AI‑driven workflows to boost engineering productivity.

Required profile

• 10+ years of commercial software engineering experience, preferably in financial services or regulated environments.
• Proven track record modernising production systems.
• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.

Required skills

• .NET / C#
• TypeScript and Angular (or similar front‑end framework)
• Azure cloud services, API design and Infrastructure as Code
• CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and modular design principles
• Daily use of AI‑assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Cline)
