Principal Software Development Architect

About the role

As a Principal Software Development Architect for Mastercard Commercial Solutions, you will define and evolve the architecture of a global B2B payments platform. The role focuses on delivering secure, resilient, and high‑throughput systems that enable mission‑critical financial transactions worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive high‑level architecture and design for core platform capabilities with an emphasis on security, resiliency, and performance.
• Create technical blueprints, service contracts, and architectural patterns that guide implementation across multiple engineering teams.
• Collaborate with product managers and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable, secure solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship throughout design, implementation, and delivery phases.
• Ensure compliance with Mastercard’s architectural standards, 12‑factor app principles, and cloud‑native best practices.
• Conduct design and code reviews to maintain architectural integrity and meet non‑functional requirements.
• Partner with other architects and engineering leaders to shape the platform’s technical roadmap.
• Champion a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and delivering high‑volume, secure, and resilient systems in the fintech or payments domain.
• Deep expertise in microservices architecture, distributed systems, and cloud‑native technologies.
• Strong understanding of non‑functional requirements such as high availability, performance, scalability, observability, security, and fault tolerance.
