Senior Auditor – Finance & CAO Audit Services

About the role

The Senior Auditor will lead and support internal audit engagements across Finance and the Chief Administrative Office (CAO) functions at Northern Trust. Working closely with Senior Audit Managers, you will execute risk‑based audits, communicate findings, and help ensure robust financial controls.

Key responsibilities

• Lead or support audit engagements covering capital, treasury, regulatory reporting, liquidity risk management, financial controls and related operational processes.
• Develop audit objectives, scope and testing approaches based on identified risks.
• Perform planning activities such as walkthroughs, process mapping and risk identification.
• Execute audit testing of varying complexity and conduct first‑level reviews of workpapers.
• Engage with stakeholders to discuss testing, observations and control weaknesses.
• Report audit status, key risks and results to business owners and audit management throughout the engagement.
• Prepare audit observations, reports, validation memorandums and other deliverables.
• Identify opportunities to apply data analytics to improve audit effectiveness.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics or Economics; advanced degree in Law or Legal Management is a plus.
• Experience in banking, financial services or public accounting within the financial sector.
• Professional certification such as CIA or CPA preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, global audit team across multiple time zones.
