Senior Auditor – Finance & Chief Administrative Office (CAO)

About the role

As a Senior Auditor within Northern Trust’s Audit Services, you will lead and support internal audit engagements across Finance and the Chief Administrative Office (CAO). You will work closely with Senior Audit Managers to assess risk, test controls, and communicate findings to senior stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead or support audit engagements covering Capital, Treasury, Regulatory Reporting, Liquidity Risk Management, Financial Controls and other CAO processes.
• Develop audit objectives, scope and testing approaches based on identified risks.
• Perform planning activities such as walkthroughs, process mapping and risk identification.
• Execute audit testing of varying complexity and conduct first‑level reviews of workpapers.
• Engage with stakeholders to discuss testing results, observations and control weaknesses.
• Communicate audit status, key risks and results throughout the engagement lifecycle.
• Draft audit observations, reports, validation memorandums and other deliverables.
• Identify opportunities to leverage data analytics for more effective audits.

Required profile

• Knowledge of auditing techniques and methodologies in the financial services environment.
• Proven ability to work in a fast‑paced, global audit team across multiple time zones.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics or Economics; advanced degree in Law or Legal Management preferred.
• Experience in banking, financial services or relevant public‑accounting practice.
• Professional certification such as CIA and/or CPA preferred.
