Senior Customer Engineer – Semiconductor Equipment

About the role

As a Senior Customer Engineer at Applied Materials you will be the primary liaison with semiconductor manufacturers, installing, maintaining and upgrading cutting‑edge equipment. You will combine hands‑on technical expertise with customer engagement to maximise equipment performance and uptime.

Key responsibilities

• Install, qualify, maintain and upgrade Applied Materials equipment in customer fabs.
• Diagnose and resolve complex equipment issues using structured troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.
• Lead technical activities during equipment install, startup, qualification and ramp phases.
• Train, coach and mentor junior Customer Engineers.
• Build strong customer relationships through effective communication and service delivery.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, trade certification or equivalent technical experience.
• 4–7 years of experience in the semiconductor industry or related capital‑equipment environment.
• Strong mechanical and technical aptitude with experience in pneumatics, hydraulics, vacuum systems, electronics or thermodynamics.
• Proven troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills in a customer‑focused technical setting.
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel (≈10% of time).
