Senior Java Software Engineer – Backend Services

About the role

CarTrawler is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to design and deliver high‑performance Java backend services that power its global travel platform. You will work within a cross‑functional team to build scalable APIs, integrate with payment and travel partners, and mentor junior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable Java services and RESTful APIs using Java 17+, Spring Boot and Hibernate.
• Lead technical design discussions with architects, product managers and engineering managers.
• Implement resilient integrations with payment providers, travel partners and data platforms.
• Ensure code quality through reviews, automated testing, observability, CI/CD pipelines and operational best practices.
• Mentor and coach team members, fostering knowledge sharing and technical growth.
• Investigate and resolve production incidents, improving performance, reliability and scalability.

Required profile

• 6+ years of experience developing enterprise Java applications.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, object‑oriented design and distributed systems.
• Proven ability to design and deliver RESTful APIs and third‑party integrations.
• Experience with SQL, relational databases and modern development tooling.
