Senior Software Engineer (Backend / Platform)

About the role

Mastercard’s AI & Decision Product Enablement team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to design, build and operate backend and platform services that power real‑time decisioning across the network. You will turn product blueprints into production‑grade solutions, ensuring high availability, low latency and scalability for millions of transactions worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver backend software components from design through release, monitoring and operational excellence.
• Collaborate with technical leads to refine designs and implement features that meet business requirements.
• Provide subject‑matter expertise for production support, troubleshooting incidents and problem tickets.
• Plan, design and implement technical solutions in line with Mastercard standards, processes and best practices.
• Lead day‑to‑day development and maintenance activities to meet service‑level agreements.
• Own the full software development life‑cycle, producing high‑quality requirements, use‑cases, designs and other technical artifacts.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a senior software engineer building and operating large‑scale backend services.
• Strong understanding of designing systems for millisecond‑latency decisioning and high availability.
• Ability to work closely with cross‑functional product and engineering teams.
• Experience following rigorous engineering standards and delivering high‑quality documentation.
