Senior Software Engineer (Java/React) – Dublin Hybrid

About the role

Our client, a global leader in digital payments technology, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Dublin engineering team on a 12‑month contract. You will work on large‑scale, business‑critical payment platforms, delivering new features and improving the resilience of both micro‑service and monolithic applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain enterprise‑grade Java applications and scalable micro‑services using Spring Boot.
• Build modern front‑end applications with React.
• Work across legacy monolithic systems and cloud‑native architectures.
• Create secure, high‑performance REST APIs and distributed systems.
• Own the full software development lifecycle from design through production support.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root‑cause analysis and implement permanent fixes.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners and globally distributed engineering teams.
• Drive high standards in code quality, testing, CI/CD and operational excellence.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical leadership.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and contribute to proof‑of‑concepts.

Required profile

• 4+ years of commercial software engineering experience.
• Strong Java development background with Spring Boot.
• Experience building front‑end applications using React.
• Hands‑on experience with micro‑services architecture and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP).
• Solid SQL knowledge with Oracle and/or PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with Kafka and event‑driven architectures.
• Proven ability to design, develop and support production‑grade systems.
• Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.

What we offer

• Daily rate of €486.50.
• Initial 12‑month contract with strong likelihood of extension.
• Hybrid working model – 3 days onsite in Dublin.
