Senior Systems Administrator - Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

Our client, a global technology‑driven organisation, is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator / Infrastructure Engineer to join its infrastructure operations team in Cork. The role focuses on maintaining, improving and automating enterprise‑level virtualization and storage platforms that support business‑critical services worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and optimise VMware ESXi and vSAN environments.
• Maintain and upgrade enterprise SAN and NAS storage solutions.
• Support and manage Hyper‑Converged Infrastructure deployments.
• Automate repetitive infrastructure tasks using PowerShell, Python, Terraform or Ansible.
• Design, deploy and support Disaster Recovery and High Availability solutions.
• Perform infrastructure monitoring, capacity planning and reporting.
• Investigate incidents, conduct root‑cause analysis and work with vendors on escalations.
• Participate in an on‑call rota for critical infrastructure support.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in enterprise infrastructure administration.
• Strong hands‑on experience with VMware ESXi, vSAN and enterprise storage technologies (SAN/NAS).
• Experience with Hyper‑Converged Infrastructure and disaster‑recovery planning.
• Proficiency in scripting or automation tools such as PowerShell, Python, Terraform or Ansible.
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical and independent working skills.
