Senior Technology Lawyer – Innovation & Digital Services

About the role

Matheson LLP’s Technology and Innovation group is seeking an experienced Technology Lawyer to lead complex, high‑value projects for international and domestic clients. You will work at the forefront of technology‑related legal developments, providing strategic and commercially focused advice.

Key responsibilities

• Lead challenging technology law projects, including digital services, AI, cybersecurity, data protection and privacy matters.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, such as the Digital Economy Group, on business‑critical client engagements.
• Manage junior and associate solicitors across the full spectrum of technology, digital services and privacy issues.
• Participate in business development activities, client visits, and represent Matheson at international conferences.
• Contribute to thought leadership through the Matheson client knowledge programme.
• Advise on large‑scale technology contracts, data governance, AI, cyber‑security, DMA/DSA compliance, content regulation, e‑commerce and IP transactions.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Technology Lawyer with a strong track record in both technical and business development aspects.
• Client‑focused mindset with a commitment to exceed expectations.
• Strong academic background and broad technical expertise in technology law.
• Ability to manage diverse workloads, deliver commercially‑focused advice independently, and lead junior lawyers.
• Resilient, hardworking and enthusiastic about practising technology law in a diverse, inclusive environment.
