Software Engineer II – AI & Decision Product Enablement

About the role

Mastercard is building the next generation of intelligent decisioning platforms that power fraud prevention, risk management, payment intelligence and customer experiences at global scale. The AI & Decision Product Enablement – Decision Enrichments team in Dublin is seeking a Software Engineer II to shape the future of real‑time decisioning for billions of transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver innovative Java‑based capabilities for the Decision Enrichments platform.
• Build highly scalable, resilient, secure and performant distributed systems.
• Collaborate within Agile teams to develop business‑critical features.
• Partner with Product Owners, Architects, Technical Leads and fellow Engineers to define solutions.
• Work closely with Quality Engineering to ensure high‑quality releases.
• Contribute to architecture, design, implementation, testing, deployment and operational excellence.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and drive root‑cause resolution.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend platform improvements.

• Spring Framework and Spring Boot
• Design and development of RESTful APIs and microservices
• Event‑driven architectures and messaging platforms
• Multithreading, concurrency and high‑performance application design
• Relational databases and data‑intensive applications
• Cloud‑native development, containerisation and modern deployment platforms
• Security, observability, monitoring and operational excellence
• Automated testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Software design patterns and clean architecture principles
• Source control (Git) and collaborative development
• Experience with AI‑assisted engineering tools (advantageous)
