Staff Nurse – Acute Medicine Unit

About the role

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Staff Nurse to join the Acute Medicine Unit at Raigmore Hospital. The role involves caring for acutely unwell patients in a fast‑paced environment that includes an Acute Assessment Unit, Ambulatory Emergency Care, and a Medical High Dependency Unit.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and admit patients directly from the community and Emergency Department.
• Provide nursing care across the Acute Assessment Unit, Ambulatory Emergency Care and Medical High Dependency Unit.
• Collaborate with a large, multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, high‑quality patient care.
• Support the development of junior staff and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Participate in career‑pathway programmes and optional secondments.

Required profile

• Motivated, caring and able to work well under pressure.
• Experience in, or a strong desire to gain experience within, an acute care setting.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Strong teamwork attitude, good sense of humour and a commitment to ongoing learning.
