Staff Nurse – Children’s Disability Residential Service

About the role

The Talbot Group is seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse to join its Children’s Disability Residential Service in Wicklow Town. You will deliver person‑centred care to residents with intellectual disability, acquired brain injury or autism, ensuring their physical, emotional and social wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 12‑hour shifts (7 shifts over a 14‑day period) delivering high‑quality nursing care.
• Support residents in setting and achieving personal goals, including education and skill development.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, day‑service staff, families and external professionals.
• Conduct regular assessments using approved models and monitor health status.
• Administer medication and perform clinical procedures in line with An Bord Altranais and Talbot Group policies.
• Report medical concerns to the Unit Manager and liaise with GPs or accompany residents to appointments.

Required profile

• Registered in the Intellectual Disability/Mental Health Division of the Live Register of Nurses (INMB) or eligible for registration.
• Experience in residential, respite or day‑service settings for individuals with intellectual disability.
• Knowledge of Person‑Centred Planning, relevant clinical and HR policies, legislation and National Disability Standards (HIQA).
