Subject Matter Expert – Remote Contract

About the role

Mercor is seeking experienced Subject Matter Experts to support AI research labs on a contract basis. You will work remotely, dedicating 15–20 hours per week to develop and refine domain‑specific data that powers advanced AI models.

Key responsibilities

• Design challenging, domain‑specific problems to improve AI model training.
• Analyze model outputs and identify opportunities for data‑driven enhancements.
• Collaborate with AI research teams to ensure high‑quality training data.
• Work independently and asynchronously to meet project deadlines.

Required profile

• PhD in a STEM discipline from a US, UK, Canadian, or European university.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
