Technology Trainer (Part‑time)

About the role

The Technology Trainer will join Vision Ireland’s Labs Technology Team to deliver high‑quality training to individuals with sight loss across the South/Southeast region of Ireland. Working part‑time on a permanent basis, the role involves assessing needs, creating resources and providing one‑on‑one, group and virtual sessions to empower clients to use assistive technology confidently.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct technology needs assessments and determine skill levels of clients.
• Design and deliver personalised training on screen readers, magnification software, braille displays and other adaptive devices.
• Facilitate group workshops and blended training sessions, both in‑person and online.
• Develop and update training manuals, user guides and accessible learning resources.
• Provide ongoing remote support, troubleshooting and advice to ensure continued proficiency.
• Collaborate with other departments to promote assistive technology use and advocate its benefits.
• Maintain accurate records of sessions, client progress and feedback, and prepare regular outcome reports.

Required profile

• Degree in education, information technology, rehabilitation or a related field (advantageous).
• Experience working with individuals with visual impairment or sight loss.
• Strong communication skills and ability to tailor training to diverse learning needs.
