Testing Engineer – Switchgear & Busbar

About the role

Vertiv is seeking a Testing Engineer to join its Burnfoot team in Ireland. You will travel to external testing facilities across Europe to perform product evaluations on low‑voltage switchgear, busbars and tap‑off units, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate product evaluation schedules with R&D managers.
• Perform temperature‑rise testing and operate current injection units (training provided).
• Set up test apparatus for switchgear, busbar and tap‑off units.
• Select appropriate cable and copper sizes according to IEC 61439 tables 11 & 12.
• Maintain detailed records, calibration certificates and training documentation for all test equipment.
• Create temperature‑rise reports and Datataker record sheets using Excel and Word/Publisher.

Required profile

• 3rd‑level engineering qualification or equivalent.
• Highly organized, detail‑oriented and proactive.
• Strong documentation and reporting abilities.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time across Europe.
